What is tooth extraction?
When a tooth becomes seriously decayed or damaged, we may not be able to restore the tooth. In these cases, we may recommend tooth extraction, or the removal of the tooth. When you visit Dearborn West Dental, you can rest assured that our caring dentists will not recommend tooth extraction unless it is truly the best available option for improving the health of your smile.
Do I need tooth extraction?
Drs. Farber and Farber may recommend tooth extraction in Dearborn, Michigan, if:
- Serious infection has destroyed a significant portion of the tooth and its supporting bone structure
- The tooth is so severely damaged or decayed that we cannot restore the tooth with a filling, crown, or other type of restoration
- There are too many teeth to properly fit in the mouth, resulting in crowding that cannot be corrected with orthodontics alone
- The baby teeth (primary teeth) are not falling out as they normally should and are blocking the way for the eruption of permanent teeth
If needed, Dr. Henry Bryan, who is an oral maxillofacial surgeon, will work with our team to ensure successful results. We invite you to call or visit our dental office today to learn more about tooth extraction and the other ways we can improve your smile’s health.
